Following is a list of resources used in the prepartion of this Web site. Since bridges have been around much longer than those that exist in the American West, background information is included here from all over the world. Click a link to go to any of the Internet resources listed here.
- Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge: Japan Suspension Bridge The Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge crosses the Akashi Strait (Akashi-Kaiyo) linking Maiko in Kobe and Matsuho. It has the longest central section of any suspension bridge in the world.

- Alvord Lake Bridge The bridge is a single arch, 64 feet wide with a 29-foot-long span.
- Ancient Rome Pictures: Tiber River, Island, Bridges Various photos of Rome including numerous ancient bridges as well as other architectural wonders.
- Camas Prairie For nearly a century, the railroad descendants of Henry Villard's Northern Pacific and E. H. Harriman's Union Pacific operated an extensive short line network high atop the rolling hills and deep in the forests of northern Idaho's Panhandle.
- Context for World Heritage Bridges The World Heritage Committee states that to be of World Heritage status a monument or site must be of outstanding universal value.
- Deception Pass State Park The bridge, connecting Whidbey to Fidalgo Island, is a popular spot for photographers looking to capture the beauty of the Puget Sound.
- Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone The original bridge was built in 1902. It was a rough-hewn corduroy log bridge with a slightly different alignment than the current bridge. The existing bridge was built in 1937. The Fishing Bridge was historically a tremendously popular place to fish.
- Kiewit - Hood Canal Bridge - Port Angeles, WA Originally opened in 1961, Hood Canal Bridge is the world�s longest saltwater floating bridge. After years of deterioration, the Washington State Department of Transportation decided to rebuild the pontoon bridge.
- London Bridge Resort - History of the London Bridge Real estate developer Roberts P. McCulloch, Sr., bought the London Bridge on April 18, 1968 for a bid of early $2.5 million from the City of London. The bridge was to promote the development of his Arizona resort town, Lake Havasu City.
- Louisiana @ SouthEastRoads.com: Lake Pontchartrain Causeway The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway holds the distinction as the longest over-water highway in the world. The 24-mile long bridge spans 1/1000th of the earth's circumference on its trek between Metairie and Mandeville, Louisiana.
- Marco Polo Bridge - Lugou Qiao - Lugou Bridge First built in 1192, the original arches were washed away in the 17th century. The bridge is a composite of different eras, widened in 1969 to span the Yongding River near the town of Wanping.
- Monterey County Historical Society, Local History Pages�Bixby Creek Bridge South of Carmel, Calif., stands one of the world's highest single-span concrete arch bridges. Reaching over 260 feet high and over 700 feet long, it's a structural masterpiece, and probably the most photographed object along the coastal route.
- Natural Bridge: Virginia's Natural Wonder Nestled between the Blue Ridge and Alleghany Mountain ranges in the Southern Shenandoah Valley, Natural Bridge provides a unique, historic, picturesque and natural experience.
- Natural Bridges National Monument (National Park Service) Natural Bridges protects some of the finest examples of ancient stone architecture in the American southwest.
- Navajo Bridge The Navajo Bridge (also known as the Grand Canyon Bridge) was built in 1929. It provided a vital transportation link over the Grand Canyon between the Arizona Strip (the region between the Grand Canyon and the Utah border) and the rest of the state.
- NOVA Online: Super Bridge The NOVA program chronicles the building of the state-of-the-art Clark Bridge over the Mississippi River. On this Web site, you can test your engineering skills by trying to match the right bridge to the right location.
- Rialto Bridge, Ponte di Rialto, Venice, Italy The Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto) is the most ancient bridge connecting the two parts of Venice's Canal Grande (Grand Canal).
- Royal Gorge Bridge In 1907, the federal government deeded Royal Gorge to the town of Canon City, Colorado for use as a municipal park. To enhance the appeal as a tourist attraction, a bridge was needed to cross the gorge.
- The Bridges Project: London Borough of Barking and Dagenham This site provides theoretical knowledge for students and teachers, with illustrations from places in both London's Docklands and the Netherlands.
- Today's Tacoma Narrows Bridge Ten years after the collapse of "Gallopin' Gertie" in 1940, the current Tacoma Narrows Bridge opened to traffic in October 1950. A new companion bridge is expected to open to traffic in 2007.
